Our Rich History

The Crystal Coast Choral Society was founded in October 1986 as the Swansboro Community Chorus, aiming to enhance arts exposure and provide high-quality concerts free of charge. In December 1987, we officially became the Crystal Coast Choral Society, Inc., continuing our mission to serve the community through music.

Under the leadership of notable figures like the late Delbert Bowles and Finley Woolston, our chorus has performed a diverse repertoire, including classical, pop, folk, and gospel music. We have celebrated significant milestones, such as international tours and collaborations with esteemed organizations, enriching the cultural landscape of eastern North Carolina.

Milestones and Achievements

Our chorus has participated in prestigious events, including performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and has been a part of Handel’s Messiah since 2012. With a current membership of 55-65 singers from Onslow, Carteret, and surrounding counties, we continue to foster a love for choral music in our community.
